My glass paintings and wall tiles are created by layering crushed glass, metal leaf and iridescent glass on a base of sheet glass. This layer is then fired in a kiln to 1450 degrees to fuse the materials. This process is repeated numerous times, with several base sheets. The metal leaf adds visual depth and details of interest. The final step is to stack these prepared fired layers, and kiln fire them one last time to create a solid panel. These panels are often one-half inch thick.
